also... erm
i have a fw setup and i wish to host on AG.

if i make an exception for port 11720 or something?
will that mean that people can easily hack me through this port?

u need to forward the following ports in a hardware fw (router):

17010 - 17012 (UDP & TCP)
6667 (W:A)
6677 (WWP)

with these ports open it isnt easier to hack u. same risk imo Wink

in a software fw just allow worms to access the net at the ports above (or all if u trust t17).

i'd say not more risks than usual to be "hacked" on these ports Wink

since u tell ur software fw that only worms is allowed to use these ports to access the net, all the installed trojans on ur system r left out and the hackers that hoped to reach them behind ur fw will be like Crying or Very sad

ur tutorial is about setting up a router to be able to host. the tutorial doesnt mention software firewalls and the risk of being hacked after u allowed worms to connect to the internet.

u should add that or create a FAQ with this question Wink

Surely the risk of being haked is practically none? Even without a firewall, you can only be hacked if there is something at the application layer waiting to receive data on that port. Unless you have downloaded a virus or trojan waiting on port 6667 you should be fine.
Allowing only WA to access that port ensures that what ever data said hacker is sending to you will be read by WA even if a shitty program is running. While WA is hardly the most secure app in the world, it is being updated and many bugs have been fixed. I dont suppse theres any dangerous code in WA to be triggered anyway.

Oh no!!! the evlhackers have deleted my maps!
