at least this time they warned me, doing some.... oh sod it ill post the email:

Tonight, starting at 4 AM EST, we will be performing an emergency maintenance on the WEB4 and MYSQL3 server in order to improve the quality of the hardware and network.
Note that IP's will change during this procedure and everything should propagate within 24 hours to the new IP's.
If you are using the IP of the mysql server to connect to it in your scripts, you will have to update it once done. If you use the normal hostname, then it should work after propagation.
We will update you with all other information we get as the maintenance goes on.

We are on mysql3, which is both mentioned there and has been the cause of almost all of our downtime... hopefully what ever they changed works.
If it doesnt I'm moving when I next have time / next have to pay.

its 1 step 4ward that they tell u thats its gonna be down, next step would be the info when its gonna be back up again we all have faith in ur isp that it'll work whatever they changed... dont we? lol
damn ur right about switching to another isp in case of another brakedown. as a matter of principle! not only coz i love this forum
