Expressed "cannot find server"
Anyone else?
Now that would tell me it's down
Or that mine and your's internet is goofed
Or that space aliens took it and won't give it back

yes, the site is down and gone. i wrote sumin about that the day it happened but seems like the post is gone too 
in short the story was like this:
the one who owned wmdb was a bit busy with life and at the same time thought that its shit to pay 4 the site and the traffic alone. then he made a donate button on which exactly one single user clicked and donated. so he found out that the communtity isnt too much interested in the wmdb and gave everyone a nice flaming b4 he took the wmdb offline.
well, thats the very short version but at the end its the answer to ur question: the wmdb is down and wont come back afaik.
a note 4 all our great map-makers: since i cant grab ur nice work from wmbd now (like i did it the time b4) it would be c0ol if u send me ur newest maps via email. i still wanna put em all on our site - the place where all the DM-maps should be available

i like that part in Pulp fiction... the duo between travolta and the black guy and their endless conversations was amazing..the starting conversation is pretty funny.. damn nice movie:) offtopic^^
respect to wmdb ...and thx for your replies...lol @ flaming from rob. .. and btw i spoiled some time for making a design for that contest he was running for wmdb..thats enough..mabe he should pay me :/

as for wmdb going down, rob put up a message that it will be back within a week. Im doubting if it will ever be back...
I think it's kinda lame that you start up a site for your personal pleasure, find out that people like it, and then ask those people to pay for the domain.
since when do we pay vab for the dm site? .,|,,

hey, and too think that I have no time what so ever, have kept this site going for about 4 years, on my own money, and no one has ever heard a peep out of me!
pfffft, some people. Maybe I should make the maps section here bigger...

thats exactly what i thought. do the stuff u like as long as u want to. if ur pissed off or dont have time 4 it anymore stop doing it. if u dont have the money to continue, u can ask others but dont be pissed if they dont pay u. so he did the right thing and closed it.
the wmbd was a smart idea, but there were still too many different places to dl maps from. and thats the way it will always be i guess.

i asked vab if he wants some finacial support with the DM site and later with the "@clandarkmatter.com" emails. but he denied.

true indeed - it all worked apart from the saving of the maps.... and i havent a clue why not. Its still entirely possible to do it manualy of course but its just not as nice.
I have exams in 5 days time untill about the 17th june, but i will definatly look into working on the rest of the site once im done. If anyone wants direct FTP access to maps for uploading in the meen time just ask. More maps cant be a bad thing, also, we are the only forum with a nice little random map thingy - oh yeah...
mmmm... beer...
