games testers are the lowest of the low though, they really are looked down on in the industry and the myth about starting there and working up is bollocks too. so £6ph isnt too bad, but the job is very boring.

Thats the point, its not the full game. You get given say, one level and you run round all the walls the make sure you dont fall through. Then over every bit of land to make sure you dont fall through.... this probably seems easy for kev as its what he does anyway. the bad part comes when you DO fall through the floor.
Because then you tell the coders and they run off and fix it. then later on they give it back to you and you start the process all over again. This is why there are such huge abounts of people in games credits under QA. Repetition testing on every little detail.
Imagine spending a week testing all the pieces of GW armour in the game with all the runes against all types of enemy and all damage types. Every bug found you start again... arrrggghhhh!
Its just painfull.

yup, its no fun at all. most of the time you dont get the fell level, just a section to work on. its not even in game state either. run in 800x600 res without any fancy textures etc as they add those in at a later time for you to re-run all the tests, then they add in the enemies and other stuff in the level and get you re-play it through again. it can REALLY put you off gaming.
the only fun thing testing games, is when they get to beta stage. but alot of software houses now hold online beta testing, if you know of a game youre interested in playing then sign up to their newsletter and theres a chance of them asking you to beta test, you will get a full few levels and that can be quite fun, much like an exclusive demo.

Well I'm sure I have games were I have gone through the floor before, just can't remember which ones... I think one of em was GTA 
As nova said beta testing is much more fun... we get a chance to beta test Nightfall next weekend
