wrong. it runs under linux also, and faster Wink

yes, ur right - just read that too now. but to play directx games under linux u need progs like wine which i think will make it slower again. and dont tell me its easier to find/install drivers for linux than vista Rolling Eyes

i also read about a directx-10-wrapper for winxp:

You shouldn't talk to bewnit when it comes to this topic..really Wink

Nice machine, but the Asus website tells me about this motherboard

So IF you're gonna guy this, then pay attention to the RAM. Put 4 Gigs 1066Mhz in there and have fun. They were able to lower the price a bit on this monster machine by putting in slower ram (and the least bit of ram you need to run vista properly, so you won't notice (they hope) - most machines come with 1Gb which runs like suck my dick). It will cost you just a little bit extra with the memory prices nowadays, and the machine will run for at least 10% longer as you expected (probably 15 - 20%), so even at the end of it's days it will be comfortable as you look back to your investment. Also. Put in a (some) small drive(s) (preferably 2x80Gb) in there - 1 for Windows/programs, 1 for swapfile/temp crap/torrent/emule shit. And leave the big 500Gb mofo for your video's, music, kiddieporn and other shit. Only THEN you'll end up with pwnage. Be sure the drives go 10K rpm at least tho...
More hints? My PayPal account is open Smile

*bleep edit* don't go for this piece of crap Smile This mainboard comes in several models: P5N32-E SLI, P5N32-E SLI Deluxe, P5N32-E SLI Premium and P5N32-E SLI SE Deluxe. So you will be buying the cheapest range board. The price is a rip off.

DUDE, you see the specs on my pos, well wait a year then get it. what you got will work, then in a year, your 2nd will run it better and you'll have more money. just a thought. I remember when i got my first pc, i thought i needed the biggest baddest thing money could buy! it was a Gateway 2000, back before it was just Gateway(first problem) for $3000 (2nd problem). it was a P2 333mhz, 64mb ram, with 4 yes 4 mb video. well a new video card, more ram, even more money, blah blah... /me should've waited a year before i got it, cus that mofo was out dated in a month...........and i'd would've save some cash. not saying you have to be cheap, but smart would be a better way of saying it. BTW, my first computer ran worms too!!!! thats when it all began .,l,, ';..;' ,,l,. 97-98? o00o0o0o so i guess it was money well spent

since i've been working with that crap the price for a good machine has always been around FL2500 - FL4000 . That story has been going on since at least the beginning of the '90s (yes, I remember paying 3000 guilders for a XT 4.77Mhz with a matrix printer and amber screen...) and I must say the machine you are talking about could nowadays act as a linux router/firewall/webserver to protect your home network (and it will be doing it's job better than the average router you buy in the shop), so it's still worth its money.

0oh, looks smooth indeed m8, but like gnork said its a bit a rip-off, as there are some older parts in the pc, and 2 gyg of mem..you will need 4 for the uber experience tho Wink and thers no xp or vista on it installed, but if ya can get it cheap somewhere..why teh fok not..I would go for seperate parts n build ur own machine, just like i did..Only the problem is that some parts are cheaper at some sites than at the other..and to not have the problem waitin for some parts to be delivered its best to just order it at 1 site...I got a friend who is always up to date with what are the best parts etc and he was willin to help me out building my own uber-bo0n-pwner3r, alltough he didnt knew the Creative X-Fi soundcard wasnt/Isnt properly workin under vista with 4 gyg ram, etc.etc. So im still having problems with that..hoping those fookers will solve it asap. ( so hint: Dont take a X-Fi card..The 1 Razer has looks smooth tho, but i dont know anything bout compatibilty problems with this 1 --> http://www.razerzone.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2_16&products_id=41) btw there are some new uber graphic cards coming out soon ( nvidia n ati ) so i would wait just a lil longer if i were you..

Eizo is not a Polish screen. But there are some points to be made.
Compare http://www.eizo.com/products/lcd/s2100/spec.asp with http://www.samsung.com/be-nl/products/monitor/lcdmonitors/widescreen/206bw.asp

The Eizo has a greater view angle: 178°, 178° (at contrast ratio of 10:1) versus 160°/160°. But the response time seems a bit high. Especially for fast games you will get ghost lines -> On/Off Response Time 16 ms (typical) Midtone Response Time 8 ms (typical) is not fast - this monitor is made for cad/cam and callcenter stuff like boonit said. No fast flashing graphics on those screens, but a good view from every point. The Samsung does a 2ms job on this if we have to believe the specs. Having this nice view also cuts in the energy bill: the Eizo eats 70W versus 55W and also in standby mode it's still not energy saving enough. The weight is 9.7Kg (the Samsung is 5.3Kg) which means good parts have been used to make this a durable screen. Slightly bigger also: it's 21,3" versus 20"Smile BUT - no game monitor, for sure. btw, my personal favourite would be http://www.iiyama.com/us/default.asp?SID=&LNG=EN&NAV=236&PCAT=18&PTUBE=51

k, have some time to answer you right now:

about the monitor:

a) to avoid the words "i hate" lets say im not a big fan of those widescreens. i have to work on a 21" widescreen and i really dont like those 16:9/16:10 formats. for me it has to be a 5:4 (1280x1024 => 17"/19") or even better 4:3 (1600x1200 => 20"/21").

b) im never ever going back to a TN (or TN+film) panel! not even those 2ms grey-to-grey times lead me into temptation. im using a MVA panel for some years now and although it has a rise+fall of 25ms (15ms+10ms - unfortunately i couldnt find no test with its grey-to-grey times) i never had any probs with fast animations, not while watching action-DVDs, not even while playing 1st person shooters. i found someone posting a pic of a P-MVA and a TN panel next to each other:

i think you can see why those TN panels also need less power... Wink

c) standby-mode? i use the switch on my power-strip. i hope u dont believe your pc aint using power when you turned it off Razz by the way: talking about power-saving and using a pc for gaming just doesnt fit Laughing

about the pc:

yo gnork, i have a similar background in pc tech. but i gave up building my own pc's - my latest one was the first pre-built pc i ever bought, and i dont regret it. yes, there are always some "rip-off"-parts in it, i.e. that cheapest version of the mobo... but did u check the differences of them? i really dont need no little monitor on the backside of my pc telling me that the bios is booting... Wink even the cheapest version is a good one and works fine for the rest of the components.
and you wont ever "save money" with building your own pc.

anyway, i wont buy that or another one soon (lets see what the dx10 vs dx10.1 discussion brings us) and try to max out my "old" pc by overclocking it (gpu and cpu). i also thought about buying a second 7800GTX and try out that SLI stuff, but fuckin hell they still cost 350€ Shocked and getting a new CPU isnt worth it, my mobo has the old socket 939.

thanks for your help and advices anyway Smile
